The Difference Between UpWork and Great Work

Spanish, Italian, Slovenian, Danish, Chinese, Arabic - no these are not chess openings (mostly), these are a few of the languages of translators we're proud to announce we've added to our talent pool.

So a talent pool, what is it? Well it's a huge group of talent that you can easily select from when needed. We have ours organized in an internal search engine, so you ask us for a senior animator in India with experience in web dev - we type the words in and poof, the options appear. The long and short of this process we can always get you the right person for the job, at the right time.

But how is this different to UpWork - why don't you just go on UpWork and source the people yourself? The short answer is anyone that's tried this route knows it’s not feasible. There is A LOT of talent looking for work and not a lot of clients with budgets to dish out. The imbalance means the proposals you get are in the hundreds, and it's a job and a half to find the good ones.

Now there are agencies that have solved this problem. You get in touch with them as a single point, they jump into the UpWork melee and come out with a few decent answers to your brief. While these agencies definitely have a place in the market, the big downfall is their potential quality of work is just that - decent. And the model is missing all the yummy things that make an agency great to work with - strategy, client service, the ability to generate IP, and the ability to build mutually beneficial relationships.

And that's where our talent pool comes in. Just like Vin Diesel's favourite word is a guttural muttering of 'family', so to do we say in a husky voice while the sun sets behind us: 'trust'. At Stratia we always aim to deliver the best work possible, and deliver the best experience possible - we're here to work with you. And our talent pool is one of the many things that makes that possible.
